Giannis Antetokounmpo Made NBA History In Bucks-Nets Game

Cam Thomas' 45 points can't help Nets get past Giannis Antetokounmpo

Monday’s game brought Giannis Antetokounmpo closer to the NBA’s scoring record.

The Milwaukee Bucks play the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center on Monday night.  

Giannis Antetokounmpo moved atop the NBA scoring list throughout the game.

Antetokounmpo began the night with 16,400 points, surpassing Joe Dumars (16,402) and Jerry Stackhouse (16,409) for 106th.

The next guy Antetokounmpo will pass is Nate Archibald (16,481).

Antetokounmpo, 28, is one of the top 50 players ever.

He averaged 24.0 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game, shooting 53.8% from the field and 40.0% from three. 

In 724 regular season games, the seven-time NBA All-Star averaged 22.7 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.3 blocks while shooting 53.7% from the floor. He is in his 11th season with the Bucks.

He has also guided the Bucks to the playoffs for seven straight years (they won the 2021 NBA Championship over the Phoenix Suns) and played in 79 NBA playoff games. 

The Bucks entered Monday’s game with a 3-2 record in their first five games including a 110-105 home win over the Knicks on Friday.

Antetokounmpo scored 22 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and one block in 36 minutes on 6/10 shooting and 3/3 from three.
