Alejandro Garnacho left Manchester United fans baffled after the youngster took his top off to give to a Fulham fan before walking down the tunnel at half-time

Alejandro Garnacho made a fan's day after gifting him his shirt - the only problem was that it was a Fulham fan and it was at half-time

At halftime, Alejandro Garnacho gave a Fulham supporter his shirt, which made his day.

Manchester United winger headed down the tunnel after a poor first half, but VAR rejected Scott McTominay’s goal. Harry Maguire was declared offside when he tried to play the ball that was crossed into the area, prompting referee Jarred Gillet to go to the pitch-side monitor.

Bruno Fernandes’ 90th-minute winner gave United three points, but United’s dismal performance following the disallowed goal didn’t stop Garnacho from showing the Cottage fans love. The Argentine removed his top for a thrilled young Fulham supporter before proceeding down the tunnel.

Man United fans were shocked by the 19-year-old’s conduct. One X user wrote: “Game well and truly gone” while another asked: “Why would a Fulham fan want the shirt of an opposition player?” A third fan may have joked, “Should get a yellow card”.

A fourth supporter said: “Wouldn’t have expected much less at Fulham. Look like daytrippers”. Manchester United won 1-0 against Fulham, giving Erik ten Hag a much-needed break after back-to-back 3-0 home losses.

McTominay supported the United manager before the game, promising to improve after eight losses in all competitions. The Scotland international remarked, “The fans want results and performances and to see the players smiling and happy.”

“It’s not happening at the moment, but I’m 100 per cent sure the manager can put that into practice and it can come off.”
