Miami (AP)— Bam Adebayo had the first 20-rebound triple-double in Miami history, Jimmy Butler scored 28 points, and the Heat beаt the Lakers 108-107 on Monday night after a late оffensive drought.
Miami’s Adebayo recorded his sixth regular-season triple-double with 22 points, 20 rebounds, and 10 assists. Duncan Robinson had 12 points and Tyler Herro 22 for the Heat.
Lakers LeBron James led all scorers with 30 points as they went 0-4 on the road. Austin Reaves finished with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists, one assist shy of a triple-double. After leaving twice with a left hip spasm, Anthony Davis finished with nine points and six rebounds for the Lakers in the last 14 minutes.
The Lakers got a last shot when Adebayo was penalized for traveling with 8.9 seconds left. James received the inbounds pass, drove right, attracted defenders, and found Cam Reddish for a game-winning corner jumper.
Time expired after Butler rebounded it off the hoop. After getting stop after stop, the Heat triumphed despite not scoring in the last 2:39 or 4:15. They include Kyle Lowry charging James with 1:57 left, despite their nine-inch height and 55-pound weight disparity.
D’Angelo Russell was dismissed with 7:52 left for arguing, and Herro’s free throws put the Heat up 100-88 32 seconds after the Lakers had a chance to go within three.
After Taurean Prince missed a 3-pointer to cut Miami’s six-point lead in half, the game transformed. After Russell’s turnover, Jaime Jaquez Jr. made another layup. Adebayo’s triple-double came via assists on both Jaquez points, and Russell was dismissed for arguing after the second basket.
The Lakers started Monday night with five injured players: Rui Hachimura (concussion), Gabe Vincent (knee), Jaxson Hayes (ankle), Jarred Vanderbilt (heel), and Jalen Hood-Schifino (knee).
