On Sunday afternoon, Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns put an end to their three-game losing streak with a 120-106 road win against the Detroit Pistons. Despite being without star teammates Bradley Beal and Devin Booker once again, Durant delivered a remarkable performance, scoring 41 points, all while playing on the second day of a back-to-back set for the Suns.

After the game, Durant kept it honest about what it took for the Suns to find a way back in the win column.

“I think we all had that mentality,” said Durant, per Duane Rankin of AZCentral. “Everybody was making plays tonight.”

He also spoke on how good it felt to finally get back on the right side of the scoreboard after the recent string of losses.

“We’re excited, we finally got a W,” said Durant, per Rankin.

The start of 2023 has proven to be quite frustrating for the Phoenix Suns. With high expectations heading into the 2023-24 season, they have faced challenges. Bradley Beal, acquired from the Washington Wizards in the offseason, has yet to make his debut due to an injury, and Devin Booker has only played one game since his exceptional opening-night performance in a road victory over the Golden State Warriors.

While Kevin Durant has been making valiant efforts to keep the Suns competitive during their absences, it’s evident that Phoenix had to sacrifice a significant amount of depth to assemble their Big Three. Consequently, they lack elite talent to support Durant when both Booker and Beal are sidelined.
