Barcelona recruited former La Masia prodigy with a €60M release clause for 2024

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo written by journalist Jordi Batalla, Barcelona would consider acquiring the services of attacking midfielder Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2019.

This is due to the fact that the Blaugrana will have the ability to activate his release clause, which is rumored to be worth sixty million euros.

It is important to remember that Barcelona has had an interest in the Spanish international player, who is now 25 years old, for quite some time.

If it’s any indication, the Catalan squad seriously considered bringing him on board during the summer of 2018, but due to ongoing financial difficulties, they were unable to come to an agreement with him.

In October, he made the final decision to sign a new deal with Leipzig until 2027; however, even after that, there is still a chance that he might become a desirable acquisition for the Blaugrana considering that they could buy him for €60 million next year. In October, he made the decision to sign a new contract with Leipzig until 2027.

Olmo is now recovering from a serious injury.

It is important to note that it is anticipated that RB Leipzig will be without Olmo for a sizeable portion of the remaining season. As a matter of fact, there is a good likelihood that the Spaniard will not return to action until after the new year because of a shoulder injury.

Shortly after coming on as a substitute for Leipzig in their dominating 6-0 victory over Koln on October 28, Olmo suffered an injury to the acromioclavicular joint, which is positioned between his collarbone and shoulder blade. This injury required him to miss the remainder of the season.

This terrible setback for Olmo occurred after only his third match back from a knee injury he sustained while representing Spain in early September. The injury occurred while Olmo was competing for Spain.

Olmo has his sights set on traveling to Barcelona.

Olmo signed a contract with Leipzig in June that includes a release clause that can range anywhere from €60 million to €65 million, primarily depending on the acquiring club, and this clause is scheduled to take effect following the conclusion of the current campaign.

Olmo has long held the dream of playing for Barcelona, where he was able to display his talents during his childhood stint with the club.

In light of his intense desire to play for Barcelona, Leipzig are willing to consider entertaining bids at the lower end of the range that was previously established.

Olmo, along with his father Miquel and agent Andy Bara, has already participated in one round of conversations with Barcelona regarding the possibility of returning to the club. The discussions centered on the likelihood of Olmo playing for Barcelona again.

If one is to accept the rumors, this took place in Qatar during the 2022 FIFA World Cup when the player, along with his father Miquel and agent Andy Bara, had a conversation with the Catalans about the possibility of returning to play for them.

Now, the question that needs to be answered is whether or not there has been any movement made on this front, as his release clause of €60 million will become active in the summer.
