The Denver Nuggets Suffer Their First Loss of the Season to the Minnesota Timberwolves in NBA Action

The defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets suffered their first loss of the season with a surprising 110-89 defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Denver had started the season impressively with a 4-0 record but was halted by a dominant performance from the Timberwolves at Minneapolis’s Target Center.

Anthony Edwards led Minnesota with 24 points, and Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 21 in a wire-to-wire victory for the Timberwolves, who held a 19-point lead at halftime. Rudy Gobert played a crucial role on the defensive end with 12 rebounds and two blocks to shut down Denver’s typically high-scoring offense.

Nikola Jokic, a two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, led Denver’s scoring with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists. Minnesota’s Mike Conley commented on the win, saying, “It just shows what we’re capable of, honestly. We know we can be a great team – we’ve got to put it together for four quarters.”

The Celtics had no such problems, as they secured a commanding 155-104 victory over the Pacers, maintaining their unbeaten 4-0 start at the top of the Eastern Conference. It was the second-highest points total in Celtics history, only behind the 173 scored in a win over Minneapolis in 1959.

Jayson Tatum led Boston with 30 points and 12 rebounds, while Derrick White added 18 points and Sam Hauser contributed 17 with five three-pointers.

LeBron James led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 130-125 overtime victory against the Los Angeles Clippers, ending an 11-game losing streak to their city rivals. James scored 35 points and received support from Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell, who both added 27 points, while Austin Reaves scored 15.

In Toronto, the Milwaukee Bucks fell to a 130-111 defeat on the road, with Pascal Siakam leading the Raptors with 26 points. Dennis Schroder scored 24 points, and Scottie Barnes added 21 for Toronto, outperforming the Bucks, who were led by Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard.

The Dallas Mavericks maintained their perfect start to the season, improving to 4-0 with a 114-105 win over the Chicago Bulls. Grant Williams scored 25 points, Tim Hardaway Jr. posted 24 points, and Luka Doncic contributed 18 points with 10 assists as the Mavericks overturned an early fourth-quarter deficit to secure the victory.
