Bayern midfielder is unlikely to extend his contract; Barcelona had the opportunity to offer an unbelievable contract

Due to Sergio Busquets’ decision to depart Camp Nou as a free agent and not extend his contract for another year, Barcelona faced a very difficult assignment during the summer transfer window.

Barça had few to no choices in the market due to their lack of funds. After kicking about a few options, including Sofyan Amrabat, Joshua Kimmich, Ruben Neves, and Martin Zubimendi, they finally signed Oriol Romeu from Girona for a cool €3.5 million.

The Spaniard performed well to establish himself at the club early on, even though he was clearly only brought in as a stopgap. But lately, he’s been having problems, fracturing both physically and mentally, which is costing Barcelona games.

The blaugranes will probably enter the market once more in the summer of 2024 since they realize they can’t depend on Romeu for key games or on a consistent basis the next season.

According to a report by SPORT1, Joshua Kimmich is one of the names that has surfaced once more.

Joshua Kimmich is now FC Barcelona's NUMBER ONE target this summer

Kimmich probably won’t stay on at Bayern Munich

Kimmich’s Bayern Munich contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025. According to the source, he is not entirely at ease at the club right now, and it looks unlikely that he will extend his contract this year.

August’s position at the club has been the subject of awkward conversations, with coach Thomas Tuchel emphasizing that he is not a holding midfielder.

Kimmich, nevertheless, disagreed with the German coach’s evaluation following the preseason matchup against Liverpool, declaring, “I am a no. 6.”

Under former coach Julian Nagelsmann, the 28-year-old had significantly more sway in the locker room and on the field; but, under Tuchel, that influence has diminished.

Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Barcelona are a few alternatives.

In the summer, Barcelona had previously made it known that they were interested in signing Kimmich. Xavi had already said that he is a huge fan of the talent and that the player would be a perfect addition to the team.

However, the transfer did not materialize for a number of reasons, chief among them being Barça’s financial difficulties.

If Kimmich decides not to extend his contract, Bayern may consider having him leave in the summer. Clearly, one of the parties that is still interested is Barcelona.

Other possible destinations include Real Madrid and Manchester City, where he may meet up with manager Pep Guardiola, who gave him his big break at Bayern.
