Kevin Durant, the Phoenix Suns’ star player, has expanded his portfolio by receiving an A&R (artists and repertoire) credit on Drake’s latest album, “For All the Dogs,” released last Friday.
An A&R representative in the music industry is typically responsible for talent scouting and the creative development of recording artists. They play a vital role in discovering and nurturing musical talent and can also contribute to assembling an album.
During Drake’s “It’s All A Blur Tour,” which concludes on Monday, he showcased his celebrity connections. Throughout the tour, notable figures like Durant, LeBron James, Tom Brady, Lamar Jackson, Aaron Judge, and Jayson Tatum joined him on stage.
Drake even acknowledged Durant in the lyrics of his track “All The Parties” on the new album: “Me and KD ’bout to turn up the art.”
Aside from his basketball career, Durant has delved into the entertainment industry through his production company, 35 Ventures. He also made a guest appearance on a song in former NBA player Stephen Jackson’s mixtape, “Jack of All Trades,” released in 2013.
As for his primary occupation, Durant is currently gearing up for his first full season with the Phoenix Suns after being acquired by the team on February 9 in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets. The Suns will begin their preseason games, with the first matchup against the Detroit Pistons, leading up to the regular season opener against the Golden State Warriors on October 24.
