Derrick Rose’s tank is not empty. The 35-year-old point guard still has something to give, and the latest example of that came Saturday night against the Washington Wizards.
The Memphis Grizzlies point guard came from the opposite side of the floor when Wizards guard Jordan Poole appeared headed for a layup along the baseline. As Poole reached toward the rim with his right hand, Rose leaped and made a highlight block.
Rose finished the sequence by pushing the ball in transition and finding John Konchar for a layup.
The former MVP has been a solid addition. Most of his production has come on offense so far. He scored 16 points and had four assists in Friday’s loss to the Denver Nuggets.
Rose isn’t known for his defense, but he showed that he can still glide in the air to make a highlight play.
