According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the Phoenix Suns forward Bismack Biyombo will likely be signed by the Memphis Grizzlies. Biyombo played for the Suns throughout the last NBA season.
Bismack Biyombo is coming off a season in which he participated in 61 regular season games for the Phoenix Suns and started 14 of those games.
He shot 57.8 percent from the floor and led the team in field goal percentage while averaging 4.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game.
In addition, the player, who is now 31 years old, participated in eight NBA playoff games for the Phoenix Suns, who were eliminated by the Denver Nuggets in the second round.
According to a story that was published by Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium on Saturday night, the Memphis Grizzlies are expected to reach an agreement with Biyombo.
According to sources who spoke with The Athletic and Stadium, Charania reported, “The Memphis Grizzlies are planning to sign center Bismack Biyombo.” After the fifth game of Ja Morant’s ban, the team is eligible to sign Biyombo because of the exemption. With Steven Adams sidelined for the season, Biyombo provides rim protection (1.4 blocks per game in the previous season).
Biyombo was selected seventh overall in the NBA Draft in 2011, and he has spent time on the rosters of the Charlotte Hornets/Bobcats, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, and Toronto Raptors over the course of his career in the NBA.
His career stats are 5.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game with a field goal percentage of 53.3%. He has played in 799 games during the regular season and 40 games during the NBA playoffs.
The Grizzlies have just completed a season in which they finished with a record of 51-31 and were the second seed in the Western Conference.
However, they were eliminated from the NBA playoffs in the first round by the Los Angeles Lakers (after a best-of-six series).
They have started the new season with a record of 0-3 and will visit the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night for their next game. They are now winless in the first three games of the season.
