Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets have made an impressive start to their title defense, securing two wins in as many games. Their latest triumph came in a hard-fought 108-104 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday, building on their season-opening success against the Los Angeles Lakers earlier in the week. In this recent win, Murray was a standout performer, sharing the top-scoring position with Nikola Jokic, both contributing 22 points to the team’s success.
However, even with the victory over the Grizzlies, Murray remains unsatisfied and demands more from his team as the season unfolds. As he conveyed to Katy Winge of AltitudeTV, “We’ve got to step up our game. While we won the match, there’s room for improvement. The preseason is behind us, so we need to fine-tune our performance for the next game.”
The Nuggets are fresh off a dominant postseason run that culminated in the 2023 NBA championship, where they never faced elimination. Murray’s exceptional performance further solidified his status as one of the NBA’s top point guards.
Yet, the phenomenon of a championship hangover is real, and Nuggets fans will be pleased to see that Murray, alongside Nikola Jokic and the rest of the team, is determined to continue their quest for improvement, despite their recent success.
The Nuggets aim to maintain their perfect 3-0 record in the young season when they face the Oklahoma City Thunder on the road on October 29.
