Stephen Curry picked up where he left off in last season’s playoff run against Sacramento, scoring 41 points to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 122-114 win over the Kings

(Associated Press) – SACRAMENTO, Calif. On Friday night, Stephen Curry continued where he left off in the playoffs versus Sacramento from the previous season by leading the Golden State Warriors to a victory over the Sacramento Kings by scoring 41 points and leading his team to a 122-114 victory.

This was the first game played at Golden 1 Center since Steph Curry ousted the Sacramento Kings from the first-round playoffs with a 50-point masterpiece in Game 7 of last year’s first-round series. That series spawned a rivalry between two franchises in Northern California that had never before enjoyed success in the same season prior to that point.

Curry put the game away with a back-breaking 3-pointer in the final minute, and the sellout crowd in the home opener was electrified the whole night. However, the audience left unhappy after the Kings once again had no answer for Curry, and the game was put away.

In the third quarter, Curry scored 16 points to put his team in the driver’s seat of the game. He even completed his 51st career four-point play, which he highlighted with a little dance to give Golden State an 11-point lead in the middle of the third quarter.

After Curry left the game late in the third quarter, the Warriors went on a 10-0 run that was capped off by Jonathan Kuminga’s put-back jam that made the score 94-77. This allowed the Warriors to build on their lead.

The late comeback attempt by Sacramento was successful because it capitalized on the Warriors’ shoddy performance. The Kings were down by 15 points with 1:15 left to play, but they scored the next 10 points in a row to narrow the margin to five. But then, with only 43 seconds left on the clock, Curry hit a 3-pointer to put an end to the game.

In Chris Paul’s second game with the Warriors, he scored 10 points, had 12 assists, and committed two turnovers. Klay Thompson added 18 points to the Warriors’ total. This season, Paul has only committed three turnovers and has 21 assists.

The Kings were led by De’Aaron Fox’s 39 point performance as the scoring leader. Domantas Sabonis contributed an additional 19 points, 18 rebounds, and seven assists to the team’s total.

The Kings were able to take advantage of Curry’s extended break to go on a 14-0 run that spanned both the first and second quarters, which allowed them to grab an 11-point lead. After Curry was back in the game, Golden State was able to come back and take the lead, 60-57, at the half.
