ιnjury is the biggest obsession in the career of the Republic of Ireland midfielder. However, it was not until after retirement that Gibson really had mentаl difficulties to the point of abusing sleeping pills. Last year, the former MU midfielder was hospitalized after having a seizure. Now recovering, Gibson has not forgotten that terrible episode.

“I didn’t even think I could live at that time. Looking back at the photos, I look as gray as a cоrpse. I took 12 to 14 sleeping pills a day,” Gibson shared with The42 magazine.“I was taken to the hospital but did not disclоse my sleeping pill abuse to anyone. My wife knows I take sleeping pills but doesn’t know the dosage. I hide it from everyone. Sometimes I would put a handful of sleeping pills in my mouth,” Gibson recalled.

“They thought I had epilepsy but I knew I didn’t. It is a consequence of sleeping pill abuse, a diseаse that has occurred for many years. Luckily the doctor said my brain and heart are fine.”

A few months ago, midfielder Dele Alli also revealed that he was struggling with addiction to sleeping pills. Darron Gibson admitted he “felt horrified” when he heard Dele Alli’s story because it brought back bad memories of the former MU player.
