UPDATE: Joao Felix’s injury situation after Barcelona 2-1 Shakhtar

In the first half of their match against Shakhtar Donetsk, Barcelona did not have their starting left back, center back, left winger, right winger, striker, or either of their two central midfielders.

The majority of these rotations were necessary due to injuries, but some of them, like sitting Andreas Christensen and Alejandro Balde, were done on purpose so that the players could get some rest.

Five players on Barcelona’s roster had never competed in the Champions League before to a game that was absolutely crucial for the club’s standing in the tournament. Three of them have never even made their debut for the club, and three of the other players have only appeared in a single game that was considered to be competitive.

Ferran Torres and Fermin Lopez each scored a goal to help the Catalans win the game and take home all three points. In the end, things turned out well for the Catalans. It was by no means a walk in the park, however, and despite the victory, the most talked-about topic was an injury that Joao Felix sustained in the second half of the game.

Because of a blow to his knee, the Portuguese player was forced off the field and replaced by Marc Guiu, who was making his first appearance in the UEFA Champions League.

Due to the fact that Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski are already out, it was expected that Barcelona would be forced to rely solely on Ferran Torres as their only forward for the match against Real Madrid this coming weekend. However, it appears that things are not as dire as they initially appeared to be.

The Instagram tale of Felix.

Since joining the team permanently, the forward who was on loan has been one of the most valuable contributors, as he has scored three goals and set up three more for his teammates. Even if he has not been able to convert chances, he has been extremely valuable to the club thanks to the opportunities he has created and the tireless effort he has put forth.

In anticipation of the next El Clasico, Barcelona will be holding out hope that Felix will rediscover his scoring touch and perform at the highest level possible for the match.
