Nikola Jokic alternated his gaze between the flashy ring on his left hand and the new championship banner heading toward the rafters

The championship ring that Denver wears contains a multitude of one-of-a-kind components, one of which is a component that can be retracted to reveal a tiny version of the team’s championship banner.

DENVER (Atl. Press) — Nikola Jokic’s eyes darted back and forth between the glistening ring on his left hand and the fresh championship banner that was being hoisted higher and higher.

Both caused the large man to break out in a wide grin.

In front of a sold-out crowd on Tuesday night, Jokic and the Denver Nuggets participated in a jubilant pregame ceremony to commemorate the franchise’s first NBA championship. The Denver Nuggets began their title defense with a game against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Nuggets entered the game as the reigning champions of the NBA.

It was an attractive sounding phrase overall. In addition, it took a long time to get here – 47 NBA seasons to be exact.

Michael Malone, the head coach of the Nuggets, told the crowd that the previous season “was amazing.” “We each received one ring. Who is interested in another? Let’s go ahead and get it.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver was present for the celebrations that took place. Both Stan Kroenke, owner of the Nuggets, and his son Josh Kroenke, president of the team, were also in attendance. The celebration was kicked off when Josh Kroenke brought the Larry O’Brien Trophy to the midcourt area.

In the playoffs of the previous season, the Nuggets had a record of 16-4, including a championship series sweep against the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals. It was perhaps fortuitous that LeBron James and the rest of the Lakers were there in the arena for the game’s opening and to hear the celebration.

According to Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon, “It’s only right since last season ended in Denver, makes sense that this season starts in Denver, too,” “We are extremely grateful to all of you for coming out tonight and for your support throughout the entire season as we work toward defending our title.”An evening that will live long in the memory: one by one, the members of the Denver Nuggets came onto the court to receive championship rings that had been designed in partnership with Jason of Beverly Hills, a company that creates championship rings that help tell the story.

On one side of the rings that Jokic, Jamal Murray, and the other players got, the phrase “World Champions” was engraved, along with the throwback Nuggets emblem and the team’s regular-season record (53-29). On the opposite side was the player’s name, number, and the team’s rallying cry, which read “Bring it on.”

On the inside of the rings was printed the postseason record as well as the elevation of the Mile High City, which is 5,280 feet. The word “Nuggets” is engraved in yellow diamonds and placed in the center of the ring, right next to the band’s signature pickaxes. In addition to that, there is a secret ring that can be retracted and it bears the championship banner.

It’s no wonder that Jokic couldn’t tear his gaze away from it. Along with the rest of his teammates, he wore brand new warmup clothes with the words “World Champions” emblazoned on the back.

The Los Angeles Lakers are the team to beat in the Western Conference, thus the target is on their backs. Otherwise, Phoenix. Or the Memphis. Or the Sunshine State. Also, Dallas. Or the Los Angeles Clippers.

In a nutshell, the Western side has an advantage.

“The thing that we spoke about going into training camp was understanding that there is a bullseye on our back every night,” Malone explained. “You psych yourself up for the match against the world champion.

The level of competition in the NBA is likely at its highest point in league history. Each session goes into an incredible amount of detail. When you combine this with the fact that you are the current champion or defending champion, it means that you are going to get everyone’s best every night… Because of our recent achievements, we now have the duty to compete at a high level every single night in order to maintain our reputation.
