Giannis Antetokounmpo into the long-running discussion about LeBron James’ NBA legacy.

“Some guys sаy he’s No. 2, but myself and others sаy he’s No. 1 and still going,” Antetokounmpo told Joe Vardon of The Athletic.

Vardon called Michael Jordan “the favorite in that barbershop argument,” but James has been gaining momentum. The conversation changed in 2015-16.

James finally ended Cleveland’s championship drought when the Cavaliers drafted him in 2003. He overcame a 3-1 series disadvantage against the 73-win Golden State Warriors by averaging 29.7 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 8.9 assists.

The Cavs’ triumph may have influenced Jordan’s approval of The Last Dance, which had been in the works for a long time, according to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne.

Jordan seemed to sense LeBron was challenging his dominance and tried to clear the air by recalling his Chicago Bulls days.

James answered by winning his fourth title and four Finals MVP with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020 and becoming the NBA’s all-time greatest scorer in February.

Although Antetokounmpo is in the minority, more people are supporting his proposal. As fewer NBA fans see Jordan play, the trend will grow.
