REVEALED: Manchester United will pay Cristiano Ronaldo £6MILLION-a-year LESS than his Juventus wage as returning superstar agrees to salary cut… but he’ll still be the highest earner at Old Trafford

In order to rejoin Manchester United after leaving Juventus, Cristiano Ronaldo has consented to accept a wage reduction.

Ronaldo’s wage demands were set by his agent Jorge Mendes at £20 million a year, or £385,000 a week, in an effort to get the Ballon d’Or winner out of Turin before Tuesday’s transfer deadline. In Italy, the 36-year-old striker received £500,000 per week.

Despite surpassing David de Gea to become United’s highest-paid player, a source close to the deal claimed that Ronaldo is making less money than he did at Juventus. Mendes had inquired about Ronaldo’s conditions and availability with a number of Premier League teams; at one point, City thought they were strong contenders.

However, United took immediate action after realizing that Juventus would actually release the player for less than £20 million.

Despite declaring on Friday that they had reached an agreement, United is yet to formally confirm Ronaldo’s transfer.
