Coach Ten Hag praised Harry Maguire after Man Utd’s victory

Coach Erik Ten Hag praised Harry Maguire after the midfielder’s excellent performance in Man Utd’s 2-1 victory over Sheffield United in round 9 of the Premier League.

Although he did not score a goal, midfielder Harry Maguire was still honored as “Best Player of the Match” in Man Utd’s 2-1 victory over home team Sheffield United that took place in the early morning of October 22 ( Vietnam time).

Maguire made 104 touches of the ball, completed 76 of 93 passes and made 13 successful long passes, becoming the player with the best long pass in round 9 of the Premier League.

The English midfielder also won 6 out of 11 duels and made 3 important saves.

“I think his Man of the Match award is deserved,” coach Ten Hag told Sky Sports when asked about Harry Maguire’s performance after the match.

“He played a very good match. Maguire handled the ball very well and read the game very well. I was satisfied with his performance and pleased with the victory,” the Dutch strategist added. .

Man Utd started the match quite slowly but was fortunate to score the opening goal in the 28th minute after “genius” Scott McTominay’s shot in the penalty area.

But it was also the Scottish midfielder who touched the ball in the penalty area and caused the “Red Devils” to equalize just 6 minutes later. Fortunately, Man Utd still won the final 2-1 thanks to a beautiful long-range finish by defender Diogo Dalot in the 77th minute of the match.

Talking about Man Utd’s victory, coach Ten Hag admitted that his team was somewhat lucky. “Every match in the Premier League is difficult and so is our match.

In international competitions, players have to play with different styles and systems in their national team and then when they return to the club, they have to return to their familiar playing style,” coach Ten Hag said on the BBC.

“You saw in the first half it wasn’t our best game, it wasn’t fluid at all. We got the goal but we have to be calmer and more mature to keep it going.” The match was leading 1-0 but conceding too quickly.

‘At half-time I said ‘let’s find a way to win’ and I think we played much better in the second half. Scott McTominay is a very good fighter. He was there at the right time and it was a beautiful goal,” coach Ten Hag added.

The Dutch strategist also said that Man Utd’s victory was a tribute to the legendary Sir Bobby Charlton – who recently passed away at the age of 86. “It’s wonderful. We created a meaningful goodbye to tribute to Sir Bobby Charlton. What he did was extraordinary.

Sir Bobby is an outstanding person both on and off the field. He has a big personality. We had to remember Bobby Charlton and we did it very well,” coach Ten Hag concluded.
