Germany’s 2014 Wоrld Cup winning striker Thоmas Müller оf Bayern Munich was reinstated tо the natiоnal team оn Mоnday, September 4 fоr the first time since the disastrоus 2022 tоurnament. In the nine mоnths leading up tо the hоme champiоnship match fоr Eurо 2024, he was selected fоr friendlies against Japan and France.

The German federation announced on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday that Thomas Müller, who has scored 44 goals in 121 games for the Mannschaft, will benefit from the “slight elongation” suffered by Niclas Füllkrug before the matches against the Nippons on September 9 in Wolfsburg and the Blues on September 12 in Dortmund.For the first time since Germany’s disappointing performance at the World Cup in Qatar last December, when they were eliminated in the group stage for the second year running, head coach Hansi Flick has called up the 33-year-old former champion world player, top scorer at the 2010 World Cup, and linchpin of the national team for more than a decade. Both the March and June international windows were active when this occurred.

“Ready” and “always available” for selection

“Müller had declared the previous weekend that he was “ready” for a possible call-up nine months before the European Championship which would be hosted in his nation, adding, “Hansi Flick and I get along very well, both from a sporting and a personal point of view.”
