The Rolling Stones and FC Barcelona have formally confirmed their deal, with the latter requiring the former to wear a special jersey featuring the band’s insignia during the forthcoming El Clasico versus Real Madrid.
Spotify and FC Barcelona have once again succeeded. According to the announcement, “Barça’s jersey for El Clásico on October 28 will once again become an iconic garment that is set to grab worldwide attention.”
“On the storied FC Barcelona uniform, The Rolling Stones (Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood) will debut on the global stage of El Clásico for the first time with their Tongue and Lips logo replacing the Spotify logo.”
Barcelona has an agreement with Spotify, the shirt’s primary sponsor, whereby the players will wear jerseys featuring the logos and symbols of well-known musicians.
At the first El Clasico of the 2022–23 season in October of last year, the Blaugrana wore a jersey featuring the OVO emblem of the globally famous rapper and musician Drake.
Subsequently, for the second El Clasico of the previous season in March of this year, a special edition kit with the emblem of Spanish singer and songwriter Rosalía’s album, “Motomami,” was released.
For the third such special edition, which is scheduled for October 28, the La Liga champions will wear a badge honoring the venerable British band “The Rolling Stones.”
The new Hackneys Diamonds album by the band is set for worldwide release on October 20, one week prior to the game, and both Spotify and the Catalan behemoths hope to capitalize on this fact.
The Rolling Stones emblem will be positioned front and center on the Barcelona shirt, replacing the Spotify logo, just as it was on the Drake and Rosalia shirts.
