Ronald Araujo and Vinicius Jr. faced each other once more last night, this time in an international match when Uruguay faced Brazil in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifying round.

Additionally, during the game that resulted in Uruguay’s first victory against Brazil in 22 years, the Barcelona defense utterly excelled and outshone the Real Madrid forward, according to SPORT.

On this particular night, Araujo played as a center defender while Vinicius was used on his usual left side, so the two were not directly facing off.

However, there was a clear difference between the two players’ performances as Araujo gave an incredible performance to lead his team to a 2-0 victory while Vinicius had a lackluster showing.

Araujo was the player with the second-highest number of individual duels won (6), made the most clearances and headed clearances (4) during the match, and only committed one foul. He also won four of his five aerial duels. For the Uruguayan, the lone mistake of the evening was an early yellow card.
