‘Be strong, Neymar Jr.!’ – Lionel Messi shared on IG after his close friend Jr. tore his knee ligaments and meniscus, retiring for at least 1 year

After competing for Brazil in the 2026 World Cup qualifying tournament, forward Neymar had a torn knee ligament injury.

Neymar’s meniscus damage and torn ligament in his left knee were confirmed by Al Hilal Club. After surgery, he’ll probably be out for six months. Many people think that this player’s 2023–2024 season is over.

The Brazilian Football Federation released a notice that stated, “Brazil’s medical team, led by Dr. Rodrigo Lasmar, will coordinate with Al Hilal Club to have the best treatment plan for Neymar.”

Neymar has had to visit the surgery table twice already this year. He missed five months prior because of an ankle injury he sustained in March. In 2023, the Brazilian striker did not have a significant impact for the team.

Al Hilal’s injury to Neymar is awful news. Only three appearances and one goal have been scored by the former PSG striker for the Saudi Arabian club since he joined them during the previous summer transfer window.

Brazil is currently without a win for the second time in a row and is trailing Argentina in the South American World Cup qualifying race. Brazil is ranked third in the 2026 World Cup qualifying with seven points after four games. Coach Fernando Diniz receives a lot of flak when the strategies he uses with the national squad are deemed improper.
