As reported by German publication BILD, Alonso’s contract with Bayer Leverkusen, where he is currently employed as a manager, extends until 2026. Nevertheless, the contract is believed to contain a clause that permits him to join any of the three European football powerhouses he played for during his career, possibly as early as the next summer.

The Spaniard (on the left) is a frontrunner at Liverpool to take over from Jurgen Klopp when the German manager departs. However, despite the clause in his contract, Klopp is expected to remain at Liverpool next season, with his own contract extending until 2026, marking over a decade of service at the club.
