Riley Curry’s parents, Steph Curry and Ayesha, have expressed their sorrow over exposing her to social media at a young age.
After Riley, 10, was thrown into the spotlight when she was just two years old, the Golden State Warriors point guard and his wife of twelve years have now adjusted their parenting style and wish to keep their family life private. When Steph was trying to answer questions from reporters in 2015, the little girl went viral at one of her dad’s press conferences. She ran up to the platform and stole the show by sitting on his lap and making noises into the microphone.
However, Ayesha has since acknowledged that one of her greatest regrets is the mayhem that ensued. “When the social media thing started, nobody knew what that was going to become,” she stated to Insider.
“I don’t think we would have done it back then if we had known how chaotic life would become.” But back then, we were just really going about our lives. And we said, “This is our child.” We are taking our child with us.”
Steph also mentioned his daughter’s viral incident back in 2019 and that he wished it had never happened. “One thing I do technically regret in terms of how fast this all came is when I brought Riley on the podium,” he stated to Andscape. “I’ve always wanted to tell my family about everything I get to accomplish and all the experiences I had. I had no idea how big of a splash she would make on the scene or how much that would blow up.”
“If I could take that one back, I probably would,” he said, “because my main objective is to give my kids the best opportunity possible for success and for seeing the world in the right light.” attempting to give our children the best opportunity to succeed and have regular lives, which includes teaching them to respect others, not become overly self-important, and not to consider everyone as their own.”
The epidemic had a big impact on Ayesha and Steph’s decision to make their kids’ lives more private. Regarding their existence prior to March 2020, she told Insider, “We kind of had a revolving door all the time.” The family was able to “figure out what we want for our lives” and “how to better ourselves” by taking some time and space during the lockdowns.
In addition, Steph and Ayesha are parents to four-year-old Canon and seven-year-old Ryan. Although they forbid their kids from having smartphones or personal social media profiles, they do let them to be on their parents’ accounts, acknowledging that they are still attempting to strike the correct balance.
“Where’s the middle ground, where we’re strict, but we’re also allowing our kids to experience life?” Ayesha went on. “We’re attempting to determine the balance. Simply learn as you go, isn’t that right?”
