Chris Paul objected to the perception that he was considered an option to free up salary funds when he was recruited by the Golden State Warriors last summer.
In response to many comments that the Golden State Warriors pushed Jordan Poole away and took Chris Paul to solve the salary budget problem, the defender with 19 years of NBA experience responded.

ESPN expert Brian Windhorst shared a month ago that ” The Warriors traded for Chris Paul not entirely for basketball reasons but to free up the salary fund .”
He further explained that the trade helped Golden State free up $123 million in Jordan Poole’s salary over the next four seasons, creating space in the salary fund so the team can extend Klay Thompson.
Chris Paul disagrees with ESPN experts’ comments
Chris Paul disagrees with this statement, saying that his move to the Warriors is to improve both his and the team’s championship abilities.
“Every time I change colors in the NBA, there are always mixed opinions, thinking that I won’t fit with the new team or things won’t be okay. I’m no stranger to this feeling, even familiar with it ,” Chris Paul replied to NBC Sports reporter.
“This is not the first time I have changed teams. I also have 19 years of experience playing in the NBA, so adapting to the new team is not a problem. So far, everything has been very smooth between me and my new teammates at Golden State.”
“So far, everything has been very smooth between me and my new teammates at Golden State” – Chris Paul said
Chris Paul played in two preseason games with the Golden State Warriors, both against the Los Angeles Lakers and both were wins.
Contrary to many people’s expectations, he played in the starting lineup alongside Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevon Looney and Andrew Wiggins instead of coming off the bench.
Through two games with limited minutes, Chris Paul has an average of 6.0 points and 4.5 assists and just like he said, everything is very smooth between CP3 and his new teammates.
