Following a rather disappointing conclusion to their 2022-23 season, the Boston Celtics are gearing up for another title run. A loss to the Miami Heat in the Conference Finals prompted some team restructuring. Amidst these changes, one vital contributor stands out: Derrick White.
White, acquired by the Celtics in 2022, played a pivotal role in the team’s success last season. The former San Antonio Spurs guard brought solid scoring and playmaking to the guard position. White currently has two years remaining on his current contract. The Celtics have the option to extend the guard’s contract during this offseason or wait until the subsequent offseason, prior to his impending free agency. Given White’s significant contributions to Boston, parting ways with him would appear ill-advised.
