The Los Angeles Lakers are gearing up to open the 2023-24 season with their sights set on a championship. However, before their quest begins, they have some preseason action to attend to, including a matchup against the Golden State Warriors.
According to Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times, Lakers fan favorite Austin Reaves is confirmed to be playing in the game against the Warriors. Reaves, who played in just one preseason game, showcased his skills with an 18-point performance in a 129-126 victory over the Brooklyn Nets earlier in the week. His recent experience representing the United States in the 2023 FIBA World Cup has likely kept him in top form.
Austin Reaves has experienced a rapid ascent, making significant contributions during the Lakers’ playoff push and their appearance in the Western Conference Finals last season. He averaged 13 points per game with an impressive shooting percentage of 53% from the field and 40% from beyond the three-point line. The Lakers rewarded his contributions with a four-year, $56 million contract during the offseason.
Although it’s an exhibition game, defeating a strong team like the Warriors is always satisfying. Given Reaves’ high energy and commitment, fans can expect a top-notch performance from him in this non-competitive contest. The game is scheduled to tip off at approximately 10 p.m. ET.
