Ghana boss Chris Hughton offers update on Thomas Partey after Arsenal star is replaced at half-time against Mexico

Thomas Partey, who came in for the injured Arsenal star midway through Sunday’s match against Mexico, has not had any setbacks, according to Ghana head coach Chris Hughton.

After suffering a groin injury in Arsenal’s season-opening match against Fulham, Partey was out for the next six games.

Before the international break, the former Atletico Madrid player made his comeback to the team as an unutilized substitute in the Champions League loss to Lens. He also made his first appearance off the bench since August in the last 15 minutes of the 1-0 victory over Manchester City.

Partey was added to the Ghana team for their friendlies against Mexico and the United States, which began when his team lost 2-0 to El Tri early on Sunday morning.

The 30-year-old was substituted at the half, but Black Stars head coach Hughton has swiftly allayed fans’ concerns about new injuries by stating that the choice to limit his playing time to 45 minutes was made prior to kickoff.

Hughton stated at a press conference that Thomas “was always going to play only 45 minutes.”

After missing three to four weeks due to injury, he returned for Arsenal last Wednesday and played 20 minutes in the following match while on the substitute bench. We were aware that he would only play for 45 minutes.

In light of the midfielder’s recent injury issues, Arsenal chose to send physiotherapist Simon Murphy to Ghana along with him in order to track his development.

After the international break, Chelsea and Chelsea will play a major match on Saturday, October 21.

Both William Saliba and Bukayo Saka, who had been left off of the England and France squads, spent the international break in north London.

Saka was substituted during the loss to Lens and did not play in the victory over Man City; however, Arsenal is hoping he will be fit for the visit to Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Saliba, who has been dealing with a toe issue for several weeks, pulled out of the Les Blues lineup. He should be available to take on Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

Leandro Trossard, who took a knock versus City, also left the Belgium team.
