Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, thinks that Mason Mount can be very important to the team’s progress.
Man United has had a tough time getting wins, but Mount has played well since coming back from a leg injury.
Ten Hag told Manchester.com, “He can play a big role.” He can play that game by giving people in the front line what they need and making the links for them.
“He can give us that energy and give our front players the right combinations.”
“He is already a great player for us because he puts in a lot of work, and he can be even better when he changes defenses or presses the ball.”
“That will grow once we better connect with each other on the team.”
Mason Mount is getting better these days.
This summer, the 24-year-old player went from Chelsea to the Theatre of Dreams for £55 million.
His first few games with the Red Devils weren’t very good, and United’s center looked off when he was on it.
He plays as an aggressive midfielder and often goes forward to press the other team.
That left Casemiro with a lot of room to cover, which the other team used to easily get around the middle of the field.
Since coming back from illness, Mount has played in three games and has looked more at ease.
He almost scored against Galatasaray and set up a goal in United’s 3-0 League Cup win over Crystal Palace.
He has more freedom to attack now that Sofyan Amrabat is in the left-back spot.
When Mount goes on the attack, Amrabat moves to the middle to help Casemiro watch the center.
But Amrabat at full-back is only a short-term fix because three left-backs are hurt.
Mount still needs to do better to earn back the big fee that Manchester United paid for him in the summer.
