According to reports, Cristiano Ronaldo is willing to sign a contract extension with Al-Nassr because he is a devoted player for the Saudi team.
The striker, who was extremely scathing of the 20-time English champions in an explosive interview with Piers Morgan, caused the Portugal international to leave Manchester United in late 2022.
Although it was believed that Ronaldo wanted to stay in Europe, he moved to Saudi Arabia, where he is now the head of the Saudi Pro League together with several other prominent players.
‘A number of stars dreading every minute’ is how The Sun describes the players’ sorrow about switching to the division over the summer.
Ronaldo is reportedly open to negotiating a contract extension to extend his existing agreement, which is scheduled to expire in June 2025, but he is still thought to be dedicated to the project at Al-Nassr.
According to Saudi Arabian reports obtained by The Mirror, Ronaldo may be able to extend his contract through June 2027.
Throughout the current season, the 38-year-old has been in excellent form for Al-Nassr, making 11 appearances across all competitions and tallying 11 goals and 6 assists.
Ronaldo has made eight appearances in the Saudi Pro League, netting five goals and assisting five others. His team is now fourth in the standings, four points behind leaders Al-Hilal.
The attacker has demonstrated that he is still a dependable goal scorer in the later phases of his career with a record of 25 goals and eight assists in 30 games for Al-Nassr in all competitions.
Although Ronaldo will be 39 early in the new year, he has expressed a wish to play well into his 40s and continue to be a vital member of Portugal’s team under Roberto Martinez.
After the 2022 World Cup, there is a great deal of uncertainty about his future with his country, but Martinez soon stated that the forward was part of his plans.
Ronaldo, who has five goals in Portugal’s Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, is presently training with the team in preparation for their next matches against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Slovakia.
With three games remaining, Portugal, who leads Group J with a perfect record, would guarantee their spot in the European Championship in the summer by defeating Slovakia on Friday.
After that, Ronaldo will return to club issues. On October 21, Al-Nassr will play Damak at home in the Saudi Pro League.
