Scott McTominay became the referee’s victim when he became angry after a beautiful goal after the filth of VAR technology

Scotland, led by Steve Clarke, were defeated by Spain 2-0 in Seville, and one of the decisions that led to the loss was the controversial call to rule out Scott McTominay’s free-kick. Scotland were left to regret the decision.

McTominay was under the impression that he had given Scotland the lead in the qualifying match for Euro 2024, which was a match in which a draw would have been sufficient to guarantee Scotland’s spot in the tournament.

The Scots, on the other hand, were dealt a devastating blow when their captain, Andy Robertson, had to be taken off the field with what appeared to be a shoulder dislocation. The Liverpool star was unable to play for the entirety of the first half.

In the second half, the midfielder took a free kick rather close to the byline and curled an excellent shot that beat the goalie for Spain, Unai Simon.

The goal scored by McTominay caused Scotland’s players and fans to celebrate, as it appeared that the qualifying match for Euro 2024 was getting closer.

McTominay’s effort was ruled out after a VAR review with Jack Hendry ruled to be offside

McTominay vented his displeasure over the decision, which prevented Scotland from taking an important lead.

The goal was disallowed after being reviewed by the video assistant referee, and at first, it was believed that the decision was made because Jack Hendry had fouled Simon.

After further review, the UEFA ruled that the goal should not have counted because Hendry had been offside and had interfered with the game.

McTominay, who plays for Scotland and Manchester United, was seen hurling a water bottle to the ground in an apparent display of his anger at the decision.

Alvaro Morata scored the game-winning goal for Spain from a Jesus Navas cross in the 74th minute, putting the home team ahead for the first time in the match.

The late own goal scored by Ryan Porteous resulted in a 2-0 loss for Scotland, which brought an end to their unblemished run in Euro 2024 qualifying.

Group A is still being led by Scotland, who now have 15 points, while Spain is in second place with 12 points.

If Spain beats the third-placed Norwegians on Sunday, the squad captained by Clarke will advance to the Euro 2024 tournament.
