Liverpool’s Ongoing Pursuit of Fluminense Midfielder Andre Ahead of January Transfer Window
Sources have informed Football Insider that Liverpool’s interest in acquiring Fluminense midfielder Andre remains strong as they prepare for the January transfer window.
The Reds underwent significant changes in their midfield during the summer transfer period, but it appears their transformation isn’t complete yet, as they are expected to submit another bid for the 22-year-old midfielder in the upcoming winter window.
Back in August, Football Insider reported that Liverpool had already seen several bids for Andre rejected by Fluminense. Despite these setbacks, Liverpool remains determined to secure his services and will renew their efforts in January.
In a recent report, Football Insider also revealed that Liverpool is unlikely to pursue a move for Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie, as their top priority remains acquiring Andre.
Fluminense initially intended to retain Andre until the mid-season transfer window, aiming to secure their first-ever Copa Libertadores title. They have since advanced to the final of the competition, which is scheduled to take place on November 4th against Argentine giants Boca Juniors in Brazil.
Andre has amassed 48 appearances in all competitions this year, scoring once, and the Brazilian domestic season is set to continue until December. He has a total of 156 appearances for his childhood club, Fluminense, since making his professional debut in September 2020. Andre is under contract with the club until December 2026.
The 22-year-old midfielder made his senior debut for the Brazilian national team earlier this year against Senegal and was part of the squad for their recent fixtures.
Liverpool, currently occupying fourth place in the Premier League, bolstered their midfield during the summer transfer window with the signings of Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Ryan Gravenberch.
