Bryce James, LeBron James’ Son, Lands Scholarship Offer at Ohio State University, Following in His Father’s Footsteps
Bryce James, the son of NBA icon LeBron James, has reportedly received a scholarship offer to join the basketball program at Ohio State University, the same institution his father once mentioned as his potential college choice. According to People Magazine, Bryce received this offer during his unofficial visit to the Ohio State campus on October 7th.
Taking to his Twitter account, Bryce shared his excitement, posting, “Blessed to receive an offer from Ohio State #GoBuckeyes” on the same day as his visit, confirming the news.
Bryce’s older brother, Bronny James, had also explored Ohio State as an option before ultimately deciding to attend the University of Southern California. As per ESPN, Bryce, currently a junior at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, CA, is regarded as a four-star recruit and has received an offer from Duquesne University.
However, he has not yet made an official or unofficial visit to the latter. Standing at an impressive height of six feet six inches, Bryce plays as a shooting guard. NBA Draft Room sees strong NBA potential in him, describing him as “A highly skilled outside shooter with a soft touch and near-perfect form, Bryce is a sizable wing with exceptional skills and a rapidly improving game.
He has displayed the ability to score from various ranges and has enhanced his dribbling and driving capabilities, showcasing increased agility and explosiveness.”
Bryce shared pictures on Instagram donning an Ohio State basketball jersey, featuring several poses, one of which included his mother, Savannah James. The photo set was captioned, “Buckeye Nation, how we feeling?” eliciting enthusiastic responses from users, including Bryce’s older brother, who replied with “COMPYYYYYY.”
If Bryce decides to enroll at Ohio State, it could bring intriguing possibilities in terms of potential NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deals. In 2022, Bryce inked an NIL deal with Klutch Sports, an agency founded by his father’s close friend and business partner, Rich Paul.
On3, a platform tracking NIL deals, estimated Bryce’s NIL value at $1.2 million, although this was before the Ohio State offer. As per the site’s valuation, Bryce currently holds the title of the most profitable high school basketball player in the country.
