Game 1 of WNBA Finals Draws Star-Studded Crowd, Including LeBron James and NFL Legend Tom Brady
The first game of the WNBA Finals at the Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday was a star-studded event, with numerous celebrities and top athletes in attendance. Among them were Brooklyn Nets players Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson, Ben Simmons, and Nic Claxton, who were seen courtside supporting the New York Liberty. Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James was also present, cheering on the Las Vegas Aces.
Although LeBron didn’t participate in his team’s preseason game against the Golden State Warriors the night before at the Chase Center, he made it a point to attend Game 1 of the WNBA Finals to show his support for the Aces. He was seated alongside Lakers assistant coach Phil Handy and WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes as they witnessed the Aces secure a 17-point victory over the Liberty, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
In addition to LeBron James, Sheryl Swoopes, Phil Handy, and some of the Brooklyn Nets’ stars, NFL legend Tom Brady and Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis were also spotted courtside, enjoying the action of Game 1. Brady, who co-owns the Aces with Davis, has been a frequent presence in Las Vegas since retiring from the NFL after the 2022 season.
LeBron James and the Lakers will return to the court on Monday night as they face Mikal Bridges and the Nets at the T-Mobile Center in Las Vegas. Following that matchup, the Lakers will head back to California to take on the division-rival Sacramento Kings at the Honda Center in Anaheim on October 11th.
