Probably one of the most memorable parts of the Golden State Warriors’ 2022 NBA Finals victory was Stephen Curry’s walk off the floor to greet his tearful mother. Since the start of her son’s basketball career, Sonya Curry has been a rock for her four-time NBA Champion, supporting him through every challenge.

But during Steph’s early years in Charlotte, she was also the object of most of the disparaging remarks made about him. And for the same reason—her stunning attractiveness.Curry’s parents, Dell and Sonya Curry, made the decision in 2021 to dissolve their 33-year marriage. Nevertheless, the pair raised all of their children—including Steph Curry—as solid members of the family well into adulthood. In several interviews, Curry has cited his parents’ commitment to his upbringing as the main factor in his success. But Steph also had to put up with bullying from his classmates throughout his time in high school because of his parents.

Stephen Curry spoke about how in high school, he was teased and made fun of by Sonya and Dell Curry.

Stephen Curry has always had perks that the majority of people can only imagine. Dell Curry, Steph’s father, was an NBA player who spent time with the Charlotte Hornets and a few other clubs. On the other side, Sonya, the mother of the Dubs guard, was a stunning college volleyball player.But Curry’s amazing parents’ qualities ultimately came back to haunt him during his high school years in Charlotte, North Carolina. Was his mother’s attractiveness a hindrance to Curry’s success as an NBA player? Curry was asked this question in a 2014 interview with Dan Le Batard on ESPN’s Highly Questionable. The then 26-year-old replied as follows:

That is the worst, oh man. It’s evident that she’s a stunning woman. And he points to himself, saying, “I guess the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.”nonetheless, she most certainly gets her TV time when she comes to cheer on my brother and me during our sports.Hey, I’ll handle it calmly. Just handle it with courtesy. Avoid talking too much nonsense.

The co-host of Le Batard, meantime, said that having a beautiful parent whilst in high school is undoubtedly a difficult experience. Curry laughed and said, “That and them telling me my dad paid off the refs—one of the two insults where they made their name.”
