Loan watch: Barcelona starlet taken off with a possible injury during La Liga clash

Julian Araujo, who is now on loan from Barcelona to UD Las Palmas and was playing in today’s La Liga match between UD Las Palmas and Celta Vigo at Gran Canaria, was taken out of the game with what is suspected to be an injury.

In order to increase his playing time, Araujo made the decision to leave Barcelona and sign a loan agreement with Las Palmas for the remainder of the current season during the summer transfer window.

After completing his transfer to the Blaugrana in January of this year, the 22-year-old was forced to sit out the second half of the previous season without playing any competitive football since FIFA had not yet approved his transfer due to a backlog in administrative paperwork.

Although everything was settled in the summer, it was clear that he would not play a significant role for Barcelona and as a result, it was decided that Araujo would spend the season on loan with Las Palmas.

After making the transfer to the La Liga team that was just promoted, the Mexican right-back has been enjoying regular playing time up to this point.

In point of fact, Araujo started for Las Palmas tonight in their match against Celta Vigo, which was the team’s ninth match of the season.

However, it ended on a sour note for the player who was on loan from Barcelona when he had to be removed off the field at the half-hour mark because it appeared as though he had sustained some kind of injury.

The Mexican international player has been replaced by Alvaro Lemos, and an update with more specific information regarding his status is expected to become available in the following days.

Both Las Palmas and Barcelona will be keeping their fingers crossed that it is not a catastrophic injury because it is essential for Araujo to maintain playing regularly in order to get experience playing in European football.
