LeBron James’ son, Bronny is one of five athletes to sign a sponsorship contract with Nike

When it comes to the James family, it’s safe to say that the proverbial apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

There are reports that Bronny James, son of NBA legend LeBron James, has inked a NIL (name, image, and likeness) deal with Nike. The deal also reportedly includes four other of the best amateur basketball players in the country.

It is anticipated that Bronny will graduate in 2023.

According to Business Insider, Bronny, now 18 years old, is following in his father’s footsteps after signing a lifetime contract with the Oregon-based company in 2015. The contract is said to be worth more than one billion dollars.

According to Complex, Bronny was quoted as saying, “Nike has been a part of my family for as long as I can remember.”

“Getting the opportunity to team up with them and continue my family’s legacy both on the court and in the community is crazy, and it really means a lot to me,” he said. “It’s like a dream come true.”

Point guard Bronny, who has been listed as the 34th best prospect by ESPN and has been given a rating of four stars, will graduate from Sierra Canyon High School the following summer.

ESPN reports that he has received offers from Kentucky, CMemphis, Michigan, Oregon, USC, and most significantly, Ohio State — of which his father is a well-known supporter. Bronny has not yet made a decision about where he will play college basketball, however.

In addition to Bronny, guards Juju Watkins (Sierra Canyon High School) and D.J. Wagner (Camden High School) were the other two high school players that Nike signed to NIL deals.

Caitlin Clark, who played point guard for Iowa, and Haley Jones, who played guard for Stanford, were also signed.

“Each athlete is recognized as a player who is paving the way for the next generation on and off the court,” Nike stated in a statement.

“These athletes push Nike to think about new ways that the game can break down barriers, bring people together, build community, and shape the future.”

While this is going on, LeBron James is getting ready for his 20th season in the NBA.
