When it was announced that midfielder Lisandro Martinez would need to sit out for an extended period of time, it was a significant blow to MU.

April was the month that the defender made his foot ailment from the previous season even worse. At that moment, Martinez walked off the pitch in the Europa League match that was being played against Sevilla in 2022/23 with tears in his eyes.

The Argentinian suffered a broken ankle, which will keep him out of action for the remainder of the season. And both Martinez and Man United have been affected negatively as a result of this injury.

A statement released by MU stated that “Lisandro Martinez will be out of action for a long time due to the aggravation of the foot injury he suffered in April.”

On September 3, during the fourth round of the Premier League, Arsenal defeated Arsenal by a score of 1-3, and the Argentine defender showed signs of discomfort during the game. 

Martinez played through his injury in the subsequent two matches, which were against Brighton & Hove Albion and Bayern Munich respectively.

However, after further examination, the medical staff has concluded that he will require a significant amount of time to recover. The situation is currently being evaluated in order to identify the next steps.
