Manchester United begins its campaign to defend the Carabao Cup crown by welcoming Crystal Palace at home.
Coach Erik ten Hag and his team defeated Newcastle United in last season’s final, thereby ending a 6-year title drought. This time, they started the Carabao Cup in round 3.
Currently, Man Utd’s form is quite inconsistent. Therefore, they are expected to face many difficulties against Crystal Palace.
Notably, Dean Henderson faced Man Utd for the first time since leaving Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Ten Hag gave Harry Maguire a chance, Mason Mount returned from ιnjury, and Sofyan Amrabat played left back.
However, the strange formation helped the Red Devils play sublimely. At minute 21, the goal came to Man Utd. Facundo Pellistri and Diogo Dalot coordinated smoothly before Alejandro Garnacho launched an accurate close-range kιck.
6 minutes later, Man Utd doubled the gap thanks to Casemiro.
Mason Mount made his mark with an accurate corner kιck for Casemiro to jump high and dangerously head home.
After the break, Man Utd continued to score a third goal. This time, Anthony Martial was the one who shone.
In the 55th minute, Casemiro hung the ball just enough for Martial to run in and finish with one touch, defeating Sam Johnstone (replacing Henderson from the 19th minute).
In the remaining minutes, Donny van de Beek or Rasmus Hojlund took turns entering the field but there were no more goals.
In the end, Man Utd defeated Palace 3-0 and won the ticket to continue on the day Marcus Rashford or Bruno Fernandes did not play.
