Louis Jackson – Who is the young face given the opportunity by Ten Hag?

Academy player Louis Jackson has been spotted training with the Manchester United first team.

Jackson, who turns 18 this month, has signed his first professional contract at Old Trafford and is expected to make his mark in the first team. The centre-back helped Man United win the FA Youth Cup last season as a rookie. 16 years old.

In his youth career to date, the teenager has made 29 appearances in Premier League 2 and at the age of 15, he broke the record, becoming the club’s youngest player to play for the Under-23s . That achievement still stands strong and is unlikely to be broken.

Capped for Scotland at Under-19 level, the promising defender has been mentored by compatriot Darren Fletcher. Fletcher is currently working as technical director at Man United and his sons – twins Jack and Tyler – have also just signed with the Red Devils.

 Jackson practices with his seniors.

Talking about senior Fletcher, Jackson shared with MUTV: “He always asks me if I need anything or any help. He has had a great career with Manchester United and Scotland. Any advice he has? He gave me great help. He is a man I admire very much and he is a great role model for young players like me.”

Posting a number of pictures to his Instagram profile, Jackson was spotted training with the first team ahead of the League Cup match against Palace and was given another chance to impress Erik ten Hag. In the pictures, Jackson is seen working with Harry Maguire, Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen – among others – as he continues his development at the club’s famous academy.

Crystal Palace’s arrival at Old Trafford in midweek will give Erik ten Hag the opportunity to rotate his squad due to ιnjury and give rare opportunities to a number of substitutes and young players. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Facundo Pellistri and Alejandro Garnacho starting on the wings in the first team. There could be an official debut for new signing Sofyan Amrabat, a chance for Altay Bayindir and a few minutes to welcome back Mason Mount.

Whether Louis Jackson will be given a roster spot remаins to be seen. Man United are looking to defend their League Cup crown, the only trophy the club has won in the past six years. This is also the Red Devils’ biggest chance to win the title, so Ten Hag will not take it lightly. But the 18-year-old Scot has clearly made a positive impression to be called up to Carrington with his seniors.
