Official: Barcelona confirms that Frenkie de Jong has a sprained right ankle, will be out until the end of November and will miss El Clasico

Although the 3-2 comeback victory over Celta Vigo has generated a lot of excitement at FC Barcelona, it did not come without a price for the Blaugrana, as the team suffered an injury to Frenkie de Jong as a result of the match.

The staple in the middle of the field was forced off the field in the first half with an ankle injury, and the club has since verified that the Dutchman does in fact have a sprained right ankle.

Frenkie de Jong has a high right ankle sprain, according to the results of the tests that were carried out. According to the official statement released by the club, “He is out, and the status of his recovery will determine his availability.”

It’s possible that De Jong won’t return before November.

Reports indicate that De Jong may be sidelined for more than a month, up until the month of November, despite the fact that there has been no time frame set for his recuperation and return.

At the very least, it would mean that the Netherlands international player would be unable to participate in important matches against Sevilla, FC Porto, Athletic Club, and Shakhtar Donetsk.

In addition to that, it would cause the superstar player for Barcelona to miss the El Clasico match against Real Madrid, which is scheduled to take place on October 28.

Because Barcelona are already without another crucial midfielder in the form of Pedri, this does not come as welcome news for the club.

The 20-year-old is only anticipated to return after the international break that will take place the following month, and it is anticipated that De Jong will be out for a few more weeks after that.
