Returning to the field after 603 days, Mason Greenwood angered rival fans in his Getafe debut

On his Getafe debut, the striker Mason Greenwood was subjected to loud jeers from the opposition crowd, which put a lot of pressure on him.

Mason Greenwood sat in the stands while Getafe and Osasuna played their match. The English footballer took Juanmi Latasa’s position on the field for the final 15 minutes of the game.

However, Osasuna supporters gathered at the Coliseum. When Greenwood entered the field, Alfonso Perez booed him. Guillermo Rai of The Athletic reports that the opposition team’s fans chanted “Greenwood, die.”

Mason Greenwood has not participated in a competitive game since January 2022. The 21-year-old footballer was suspended by Man United after accusations of rape, abuse, and control over his girlfriend. Greenwood’s charges were dismissed in February of this year.

Greenwood was transferred to Getafe on a season-long loan after Man United said he would no longer be a member of the squad. That was the finding of a previous internal examination the “Red Devils” conducted.

Mason Greenwood joined the field with the score 2-2. Getafe ultimately won thanks to a goal from Nemanja Maksimovic in the 86th minute. Even though Getafe only had one other victory this season, it was enough for them to climb to the top half of the La Liga standings.

Despite arriving late to the game, Greenwood managed to make a shot. He had 12 touches on the ball, completed 4 perfect passes, and prevailed in 33 percent of debates.
