As the January transfer window approached, questions were raised over Barcelona’s ability to register Vitor Roque due to the salary cap for the 2023–24 season that was released by La Liga.

The Catalans are already spending close to €404 million on salaries, but were only allowed to spend €270 million.

Roque’s transfer to Barcelona has been finalized, however it has been speculated that he may not be able to join the team until after the January transfer window.

Barcelona residents are not worried.

New information from Sique Rodriguez suggests that Barcelona has already assured Roque’s agency that they may sign him during the upcoming winter transfer window.

Barça have advised the young forward’s camp to remain calm and assured them that his registration will be completed in January despite the unfavorable scenario with regard to Financial Fair Play.

Manager Xavi Hernandez confirmed Roque’s arrival at the turn of the year during Friday’s press conference, citing information from sporting director Deco.

Apparently, Vitor Roque will arrive in January as Deco has informed me. We’ll see, but his inclusion ought to be smooth sailing in theory. Nonetheless, I don’t think now is the time to discuss it,” he had remarked.

The missing piece

Given Robert Lewandowski’s advanced age and inconsistent play of late, Barcelona must have Roque available as soon as feasible.

The 18-year-old Brazilian prodigy has been in blistering form for Athletico Paranaense this season, contributing to 20 goals and eight assists in 32 matches across all competitions.

The teen’s promise, potential, and versatility (he can play centrally or on the wing) would be a welcome acquisition for Xavi.

Barcelona are now unconcerned with the FFP scenario and have conveyed this sentiment to Roque and his agent in regards to his January inclusion.
