Formula 1 Fans Accuse Fernando Alonso of Involvement in Lizard Incident at Singapore Grand Prix FP1
During FP1 at the Singapore Grand Prix on Friday, Formula 1 enthusiasts have raised allegations against Fernando Alonso, suggesting he may have been involved in the unfortunate encounter with one of the lizards.
While the evidence remains inconclusive, there is a video clip that appears to show the Spaniard inadvertently colliding with the lizard as it ventured onto the track through Turn 9.
Notably, this is not the first time lizards have made appearances at the Singapore Grand Prix. In a previous race, Max Verstappen encountered a particularly large lizard, humorously referred to as ‘Godzilla’ by him and his engineer.
Friday’s first practice session saw the yellow flag raised three times due to these reptilian escapades, with various lizards exploring the street circuit, including one playfully dubbed ‘Godzilla Jr.’ by Verstappen.
Unfortunately, one of the later visitors during the session, possibly one of the largest, ventured onto the track and met an unfortunate end. This prompted the marshals to replace the yellow flags with the red and yellow striped flag indicating a ‘slippery surface,’ and it likely required some cleanup.
As temperatures decrease, it is expected that FP2, qualifying, and the race will experience fewer interruptions of this kind, as the lizards may no longer seek basking spots. GPFans has reached out to an animal expert for further insights.
