Max Verstappen also responded to Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff in anticipation of the 2023 Singapore GP.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen took a swipe at Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff following Wolff’s dismissal of Verstappen’s 10th consecutive Grand Prix win as “for Wikipedia.” When asked about the comparison between Verstappen’s dominance and Mercedes’ performance, Wolff explained the difference, citing Mercedes having two competitive drivers within their team.
Wolff remarked, “I don’t know if he values the record; it’s not something significant for me or any of these statistics. It’s for Wikipedia, and nobody really pays attention to that.”
Verstappen’s remarkable winning streak continued at Monza, where he secured victory at the Italian Grand Prix, breaking Sebastian Vettel’s record. With Red Bull winning all 14 races of the season, with Verstappen claiming 12 of them, more records may tumble in the upcoming races.
Reflecting on his success, Verstappen admitted, “I never imagined such a scenario at the start of the season. I’m extremely proud and thrilled with the race and the team’s collective effort throughout the year. Winning every race this season is a rare achievement, and it’s similar to winning 10 in a row.”
During a media interview after the race, Verstappen couldn’t resist making a subtle yet pointed remark in response to Wolff’s comments. While discussing Lewis Hamilton’s records, Verstappen mistakenly stated that Hamilton had won six titles.
