Yamal, who replaced Dani Olmo, was 16 years and 57 days old in his debut for the A national team. He took the record from teammate Gavi, who also played in the match.
Gavi was just 17 years and 62 days old when he debuted for Spain A in the Nations League semi-finals against Italy in October 2021.
Spain led the away game with a score of 4–0. He scored his first national team A goal in the 74th minute and gave Spain a 7–1 lead.
In April, Yamali became the youngest player in FC Barcelona’s history in the biggest league. He made his La Liga debut against Real Betis at the age of 15 years and 9 months.
According to the BBC, the youngest player ever to appear in a match for the men’s national team is Lucas Knecht of the Northern Mariana Islands, who made his national team debut at the age of 14 and two days old in April 2007.
The Northern Mariana Islands is a member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), but not a member of FIFA.
