There is a huge difference between David de Gea and Andre Onana in the last 4 matches starting for Man United.

 In the summer of 2023, David de Gea announced his departure from Man Utd. The Old Trafford team decided not to renew the contract, so the Spanish goalkeeper had no choice but to leave.

 Initially, the Red Devils were said to have reached an agreement with De Gea on a new contract with a significantly reduced salary. But, Man Utd changed his mind. They asked De Gea to reduce his salary deeper. The 32-year-old goalkeeper did not agree, so the negotiations fell into a deadlock.

 In fact, De Gea is said to be unsuitable for the way the ball is deployed under Erik ten Hag. Therefore, he is looking for a new destination.

 In contrast, Man Utd spent heavily to bring in Andre Onana from Inter Milan. He became the most expensive goalkeeper in Red Devils history.

 Onana’s ability to play with his feet is a strong point. He is expected to help Man Utd completely transform.

 However, after the first four matches, Onana has not been able to bring peace of mind.

 In terms of passing ability, De Dea only made 68 passes with a rate of 67%, while Onana made 104 passes, reaching a rate of 75%. 

 Clearly, in terms of foot play ability, Onana is superior. However, in the most basic skill a goalkeeper needs to have, which is blocking, Onana is inferior to the “Saint Ton”.

 Overall, Onana needs more time to prove its value. As for De Gea, he left but is still a big idol at Old Trafford in terms of his blocking ability.
