New Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has cracked the Ballon d’Or top 30 for his treble-winning exploits with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in his first and only season as their club captain before moving to Catalonia.
Gundogan’s technical prowess was on full display during the course of the season, where Manchester City clinched their first European crown.
Striker Robert Lewandowski, after his Pichichi-winning debut season with Barcelona has also been named among the top 30.
Now reunited with Gundogan, hopefully, the pair can emulate their prolific Dortmund partnership and spur Barcelona on to more success.
Their key task is to help Barcelona break their European duck this season.
