Butler appears to have played a fair amount of international basketball given that Team USA ultimately captured the gold medal at the 2016 Olympics. In a recent interview, the star of the Miami Heat was questioned about his willingness to compete in the current 2023 FIBA World Cup. He gave a swift and sharp reply to that.

“I’m not here making any claims. I’m not interested in the World Cup.

Unfortunately, there is no genuine way for us to know why Jimmy no longer wants to play for Team USA. Perhaps he believes that, in comparison to an NBA championship, a gold medal simply doesn’t have enough significance and worth. It might not make much sense for him to fight for another medal as he already has one from the 2016 Summer Olympics.
