Fernando Alonso has called on Aston Martin to thoroughly analyze the reasons behind their struggles in terms of pace compared to their direct rivals throughout the Italian Grand Prix weekend.

Despite facing strong competition from Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes, Williams, and McLaren, Alonso managed to secure 10th place on the grid in qualifying, which he converted into a ninth-place finish in the race. After stepping out of the car, Alonso expressed, “I think this is what we deserved today. We were only good for ninth, and we need to get better next time. We didn’t have the pace, since Lap 1, I felt a little bit slow.”

He emphasized the need to investigate why Monza posed difficulties for their car and stated their intention to focus on improving for the upcoming race in Singapore. When asked about the takeaways from Monza, Alonso highlighted their continuous learning process: “We learn a lot. Obviously, every lap we do, we see things on the car that are maybe not in the window we want to be, and we try to learn from this.”

In contrast, his teammate Lance Stroll faced a challenging weekend, finishing in 16th place as the last driver on the lead lap after starting from the back of the grid due to a disrupted weekend. Stroll had technical issues during FP2, which added to their difficulties.

Stroll summarized his race, saying, “Tricky, just no pace. We were just slow all weekend, so some stuff to think about for Singapore. I wasn’t expecting anything [here], I just think it was a hard weekend.”
